How to Transition Your Closet for Fall

Hey ladies... Amanda, here, designer and stylist at Inherit! I don’t know about you but Fall is my favorite season! Chilly days, bonfires, pumpkin spice lattes, baking days…..you get the picture! ;-) Fall clothes are also a favorite, because that means more layers! You might be wondering how to take those summer favorites, and make them transition into Fall without having to buy an entirely new wardrobe?! We’ve got you! Keep reading, and I’ll share all of my favorite summer pieces, and help you bring them into fall.

Button Up Shirt

I love a great button up shirt. They are so versatile all year round, but bringing this piece into fall is just perfect, because it layers so well! Should we count the ways?! 1.  Layered under a sweater 2. worn alone with a cute graphic tee 3. Over a dress...you name it, with this button down shirt you can’t go wrong!

Chambray Top

The good ole’ chambray top! This shirt is absolutely a classic staple! I think there is one of every shade of blue in my closet. :) The fact that this one is short sleeve is even better, for those Fall days that are just turning crisp, and you don't want the bulk of a long sleeve underneath. With the trend of chunky sweaters this season, it adds a classiness to any look. Also, with the versatility of the color it can be worn with multiple different colors and washes of skirts!

Simple White Tee

One of my weekly go-tos is always a simple tee layered under a jacket or cardigan. With the simplicity of a white tee, you can add any color combination and texture, and it always just works. Layering in the Fall with a great military jacket, or a cardigan can keep this a great styled everyday look.

Denim Jacket

Need I say more with another one of my favorite classic staples?! When I don’t know what to layer over something, this is what I grab most from my closet. To take this into fall, layering it over a sweater will keep you warm and cozy for all those chilly days ahead. This denim jean jacket is also a piece that can live in your closet for years and years, and never go out of style!

Graphic Tee + Flannels

You can’t talk about Fall transitional pieces without mentioning flannel! This is a great layering piece to add pops of pattern to any look. Worn over a graphic tee keeps it simple, and easy to pair.
